I am pleased to announce that we are indeed having some rain — not exactly of biblical proportions, but we are grateful for even a mild shower.
Most of our activities are well attended. All of our activities are meticulously planned and carried out. We know that if we go to lunch, out with the Explorers, to a Book Club meeting, on a hike, to a TGIF or party, or to any other Newcomers’ sponsored activity, it will be amazingly put together. There’s a lot of preparatory work that goes on. In addition, we are fortunate to have within our membership expert professionals in different areas who generously share their knowledge with us all as speakers and sometimes even running an entire activity. One of our very appreciated speakers is Robert Booth, a scientist who will be doing a return engagement to lecture on DNA research. And Carol Aaron has been offering a memoir writing group, Legacies, for more than a year. The participants rave about it as being life affirming and fostering both self awareness and intimacy with one another. Carol offered, with Alletta Birk, a second group experience this year, called Passages, to focus on the seasons of life. Not enough people attended to merit continuing the group, but we are greatly indebted to them for their preparation, creativity and generosity.
Our Calendar has been carrying a reminder to SAVE THE DATE of April 29 for the Spring Fling. I hope it is on your personal calendar as well. It will be a great celebration, our most informal party of the year, but full of food, friends, and spirit, as well as spirits for those who wish! Look for the invitation that will be emailed out in March and respond promptly so we can plan well.
See you around!
Kay Barchas
