On February 29th, we will LEAP into the historic sandstone caves of Wente Vineyards in Livermore to taste their heritage wines, followed by lunch in the award-winning Wente restaurant which features estate-grown and locally-sourced California wine country cuisine.
Founded 125 years ago, Wente is the oldest, continuously-operating family-owned winery in the United States and, in 1912, the first winery to bring Chardonnay cuttings to America.
In December, Wente was announced as the winner of Wine Enthusiast Magazine's 2011 American Winery of the Year.
Join us for a tour and tasting of Wente Heritage Block wines in the historic caves. The tasting fee is $15. Following the tasting, we will gather for a no-host lunch in the Restaurant at Wente Vineyards.
To reserve your spot on the delectable Explorer's outing, send your check for $15 made out to Liz Wilson to Liz at 11471 Buena Vista Drive, Los Altos Hills, 94022. This trip will be limited to 20 people.
We will depart at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, February 29th, from the public parking area at University Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. This location is adjacent to the Chamber of Commerce building and across Foothill Expressway from Maria's Antiques and Draeger's.
Please tell Liz if you are willing to be a driver. Instructions will be provided and drive time is about 55 minutes.
