Two Recommended January Movies
In January we enjoyde Meryl Streep's outstanding performance as Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady", for which she received a Golden Globe for best Actress and is a likely Oscar nominee.

On January 30 we will see A Separation, an Iranian film about a married couple faced with a difficult decision, whether to move to another country to improve the life of their child or to stay in Iran and look after the husband's elderly parent suffering from dementia, resulting in "a conflict that sends out widening ripples as it examines issues of gender, religion, justice and class in a country in which Islamic law coincides uneasily with modernity." (NY Times). The movie has gotten great reviews, many awards worldwide, and a lot of Oscar buzz for Best Foreign Language film.
February Flash Flix
In February we want to do some Flash Flix to catch up on some of the Oscar nominees we may have missed. The Oscar nominations will be announced on Tuesday, January 24, so let us know which ones you are interested in, and whether you like our post-theater discussions over lunch, drinks or dinner, so we can make some plans. Some possibilities include The Artist, My Week with Marilyn, Young Adult, Albert Nobbs, War Horse, Hugo, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and Carnage.
