Style Show presented by MAUREEN NORTON
Nordstrom's personal touch department

Maureen welcomed us to Nordstroms.  She reported that the clothes and the colors that are big this Spring are better than ever, and there is a great variety of styles, lengths and looks.

The first thing to be aware of is getting the right bra.  Nordstroms is having a “Fit for the Cure” event right now, where any Wacoal bra purchased will have $2 donated to breast cancer research.
Most of
us wear a bra that’s too big around, and too small a cup.

Maureen reminded us that we can be as creative with home accessories as we are with fashion accessories. Examples: use a martini glass to serve a cold soup; use big pins instead of napkin rings.

New designs for Spring 2007:  Empire shapes, A lines, Gothics, ‘20’s Edwardian look and Gatsby inspirations, ‘60’s London looks, romantics, the goddess looks with draping.
Accessories: Leggings and opaque tights; interesting T-shirts over anything from tops to skirts to jeans; jewelry and scarves worn in interesting ways.

Fashion Tips:
Wide leg shorts are more flattering; newest length for shorts is between bermudas and capris.
Khaki is a safer color than white, great for pants
Wear white pants with an ecru top for daytime, a sequin top for evening; add a spash of color with turquoise or coral jewelry
Button a long top just to the waist; turn the collar up
St. John clothes have a younger look; their pants fit great. Angelina Jolie is their spokesperson!
Knot scarves off-center; don’t do too much – scarves can be fussy and distracting
Wear wide belts, but put the buckle in back
Metallics always good -- shimmery dresses, accessories, scarves; gold and silver together in jewelry
Linen – guaranteed to wrinkle!
Origami- print fabric top is a great way to camouflage bulges
Wear a short jacket over a longer top
New at Nordstroms: several lower-priced casual sportswear lines, good for experimenting with color
A Diane Von Furstenberg swimsuit cover-up can be a dress; add a belt to vary the look. Her wrap dress is back, and is “well-engineered.”
Lots of neat raincoat designs: One is metallic, another in blue that reverses to white, a style by Michael Kors is in waterproof patent – colors are slicker yellow, red, or black
