A new model for Democracy
|
Speaker: Dakin Sloss
Executive Director of California Common Sense (www.casc.org)
Date: Thursday, January 12
Time: 10:00 refreshments & chat — 10:30 program
Location: First Republic Bank Conference Room
400 South San Antonio Rd., Los Altos

Dakin Sloss will discuss efforts of a group of Stanford students and alumni to open government finances to the public, engage Californians in data-driven discourse, and catalyze a grassroots movement for better governance.
Come see how one tool is changing how citizens interface with their government, by helping them easily learn about public policy and interact with elected officials, all just with the click of a few buttons.
Dakin will take you on a tour of the CACS transparency portal, the state’s budget, local government finances, and a way for California to move forward from daunting fiscal challenges based on examination of data and renewed civic participation.
Please let us know if you would bring cookies, breakfast bread or fruit to share.
